Rob Heywood

profile

Rob has over 30 years experience in the engineering industry, including many years as a consultant in the design of civil, industrial, and commercial structures. In addition to an academic career as a Senior Lecturer in Queensland University of Technology, he has made a significant contribution to the engineering community, including participating in the preparation of codes of practice and publishing widely. He is currently the Queensland representative of Engineers Australia’s Structural College.

With Texcel, Rob’s consulting and research interests merged to provide a service to explain and reconcile the disparity between conventional engineering theory and the behaviour of structures in practice.

Through his passion for structures, Rob applies his technical expertise in an independent, creative, and comprehensive manner to resolve structural issues for clients such as Rio Tinto Alcan, Bechtel, Port of Brisbane Corporation, and the Queensland Department of Main Roads.
